BRIDGES 3

Description: This program is for young adults with disabilities who have significant cognitive and adaptive delays that need significant support throughout the day. The emphasis of this program is on instruction in life skills, community inclusion, pre-vocational activities, and volunteering or working in local organizations.

BRIDGES 2

Description: This program is for young adults with disabilities who are moderately independent, and who continue to need adaptive, social, daily living, and/or life skills education and support. The emphasis of this program is on job exploration, job skills development, post-secondary education opportunities, independent living, community access, and volunteering or working in local organizations.

BRIDGES 1

Description: This program is for young adults with disabilities who are moderately independent, and who continue to need adaptive, social, daily living, and/or life skills education and support. Students in these programs can handle working a full day for four days a week in a large and/or sensitive real-work setting. The emphasis of this program is on job exploration, job skills development, post-secondary education opportunities, community access, and independent living.

ACHIEVE (BRIDGES 1)

Description: This is a post-secondary program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It includes credit and non-credit bearing classes, intensive advising, involvement in campus life, and job readiness services. Eligibility and enrollment are determined by ACHIEVE staff with recommendations from the BRIDGES program. It is a competitive process, and applications are submitted directly to ACHIEVE by students and/or their families.

This is a second-year program. Students only have their program paid for if they are a current BRIDGES student who we recommend to ACHIEVE. If you choose to apply independently, you are not considered part of the BRIDGES program and do not receive funding or support from us.

Project Search (BRIDGES 1)

Description: Project SEARCH is an internship-based program embedded at Seattle Children’s Hospital. It is a collaboration between Seattle Public Schools (BRIDGES), an employment/vocational provider (Vadis), and the host business (Seattle Children’s). All three partners work together to support the students in internships at Seattle Children’s and support their goal of paid employment after graduation.

Criteria: Students must be in their final year of transition services. Students must desire paid employment after graduation AND demonstrate safe and appropriate behaviors for a hospital setting. This includes following any expected COVID-19 procedures set by Seattle Children’s.
